Georg Tauböck

‘Friend of all students’. This is how Georg Tauböck is very fittingly described in a nominating text. Each and every one of his interactions with students is defined by respect and understanding. In his exercise classes, he manages to create an environment in which the pressure is very low and questions are always welcome. Every nomination we received emphasises how well he explains each exercise with care and palpable enjoyment. He takes time to answer all questions and does not mind explaining things multiple times. It is very clear that it is important to him that every student gains something from his classes, not least of all the enthusiasm he constantly conveys.  It is also obvious that he enjoys being in contact and discussing mathematics with his students. Even outside of his classes he always takes time to help students who might be struggling.

Georg Tauböck supervises multiple bachelors theses every semester - A work we think is way underappreciated. It is very important to him to grant students freedom in choosing their topics of interest and to invest a lot of time into the supervision. Few teachers manage to make their students feel as comfortable in exercise classes as he does. And even fewer manage to simultaneously convey the mathematical contents as competently and clearly as he does.
