An announcement regarding future Mensa parties:
Dear students,
At the last few parties, due to some unpleasant situations, we (the organizers) have gotten the feeling that people often forget we are not a company. While we appreciate that our parties seem to be this popular, we would like to remind everyone about a few things:
We are students just like you and organize our Mensa parties both on a voluntary basis and not profit-oriented (but rather â if even â covering our costs). It takes a lot of work planning and hosting an awesome party, and we are happy to put in that work â as long as it gets appreciated.
What do we mean with this? We wish for more cooperation from our Mensafest visitors. Know your limits, donât overstep them as well as othersâ boundaries and generally behave like decent human beings. Donât make the lives of those throwing a great party for you harder â meaning not only the organizers but especially those working behind the bar and in the awareness high-vis vests. If we point something out to you, this is not out of malice but rather because we have a good reason to do so. If you need to get rid of excess energy, you are better off doing that elsewhere, not on our parties.
We would also like to use this message to explain our reasoning behind the âno hard alcoholâ rule. Our Mensafest is supposed to be a cozy party for everyone, not an excuse for binge-drinking. Especially those who have already drunk a lot often get âdumbâ ideas and harm not only themselves but others with them.
One last topic: Our parties (for good reason) are not open-ended but instead have a defined end point, which you can find on the poster. This is both due to us staying until the early morning anyway and cleaning everything up and because we get problems with the university if our guests stay for too long. That costs us a lot of money, which we could put to better use for all of you. Please do us the favour and quickly leave the university premises after the official end of the Mensafest â you are free to continue partying at a bar, along the Danube Canal or at home.
To everyone that did not feel addressed by any of this: Thank you! We appreciate your cooperation and love celebrating with you. We would also like to thank all the people that help us out when the aforementioned unpleasant situations turn up.
We are already looking forward to the next Mensa party!
Yours, âRoter Vektor=
