Various comittees in which we are involved and help shape aspects of our university. Most of the time we nominate main members and substitute members.
Committees regarding studies and faculty life
Studies Conference (StuKo)
The studies conference is the advisory body of the Director of studies. Students are also involved (10 members) and we can voice our concerns regarding teaching and study organisation. Even if we don’t have any specific concerns, there are often discussions about various topics (e.g. lecture recordings). You can find more information about the StuKo on the SSC website.
Faculty Conference (FaKo)
The faculty conference is the faculty’s advisory body. Students are also represented there (4 members) and we can voice concerns that do not fit with the studies conference. Usually, there are various reports (e.g. from the Dean’s office) and fewer discussions. Although the Faculty of Mathematics does not have a web page for the FaKo, you can find more information on the Website of the Faculty of Computer Science.
CurrAG
A curricular working group (also known as C-AG) is only needed when a new curriculum is being written. Teachers and students (in varying compositions, depending on the CurrAG, often 3 students) discuss how the new study programme should be structured and what should be included in the curriculum. Further information on how a curriculum is created can be found on the Senate website (only available in german).
Committees for the allocation of posts
Professors’ Appointment
Habilitation
We delegate one main and one substitute member to the habilitation committees. In the habilitation process, there is an academic presentation (which affects us students less) and a didactic presentation, which as many students as possible should attend. The students then assess the teaching skills of the person looking to get habilitated, and the committee members write a report on it. More information can be found in our wiki (german only).
